How to Make a Topiary Tree

» Step 1 - Cut the panels

Cut 20 circular panels, 7.5cm in diameter from your choice of different papers.

 

» Step 2 - Mark and score the panels into triangles

Mark all panels into equal equilateral triangles (measuring 6.5cm on each side).

Score along each edge, and fold upwards.

» Step 3 - Join the panels together

Join the first two panels together by applying glue to one of the edges, and then glue the next panel to one of the open sides.

» Step 4 - Joining more panels together

Continue this by gluing the third panel on, and so on until your have 10 in a line. Finally, join the first one to the last one.

» Step 5 - Make and secure the stem

 Take the piece of A4 glitter card , roll tightly into a tube then secure with glue.Then fix the ball to the stem; this should be done with your glue gun!

» Step 6 - Making the container
On your chosen card for the container, construct  a "topless" box , each side measuring 10cm x 10cm.Score and fold along the tabs, securing the sides with double sided tape or glue.
» Step 7 - Securing the tree within the container

Using the same chosen card, draw another square , which should measure 13.8cm x 13.8cm. Mark in 2cm from each of the sides, top and bottom, joining these points, producing an inner square ,.Using a craft knife slice a sar formation, with lines measuring 1cm long.

Secure the above piece within the containrr, and gently push the stem of the tree through the star. The tree should now be secure.Next fill around the top of the container with shredded paper.

» Step 9 - The finished tree

Now using assorted ribbons, trim the topairy tree and the container.
